We get bombarded each day with thousands of thoughts. Besides the thoughts that we have, our thoughts are also heavily influenced by the people we work with, family, friends, TV, Radio, Newspapers, books, magazines and the Internet to mention just a few.
Protecting your mind can be a full time activity and at the very least we should always be aware of what is infiltrating our most valuable asset.
I learned a long time ago that No Thought Lives In My Mind, Rent Free! Each and every thought either helps me grow or sets me back. In fact in the fast paced world we live in it is safe to say that if we are not moving forward we are moving backward.
So how do we control what thoughts enter this sacred domain we call the mind?
You Choose!
Yes you ‘can’ choose what TV program to watch if any or whether you should listen to the radio or music in your automobile or listen to an inspirational or motivational or educational CD.
You ‘can’ choose whether you should read the newspaper or read a great book. Even when choosing a book it is all up to you whether you choose an ‘escape’ type book like a Romance Novel or a Science Fiction thriller or do you read The Magic Of Thinking Big.
We can’t choose all our thoughts but there are many wise choices we can make to limit the amount of frivolous, harmful and purely useless thoughts that are sent our way each day. You can turn the channel! You can tune in or tune out!
You either pay attention and battle thought pollution or you pay the rent that each thought commands. The price of the useless and frivolous thoughts is usually unadulterated mediocrity. The price of harmful thoughts is poverty and unhappiness.
The choice is yours!
